Springboard UK – Gate Gossip ‘Returners to Work’ Programme

Objective

This programme is designed to allow returners to work to experience the flexibility of the labour market, by providing them with a fun stimulating taster day within the industry. This is followed by a three day training programme, including presentations, practical sessions with employers, assertiveness training and interactive exercises in specific personal areas all at different industry venues, while raising awareness of job and career opportunities. Participants are also given the opportunity to obtain an industry related qualification in Customer Care via the Welcome Host programme. This programmes adds additional value through assistance with the provision of childcare support to encourage more women returners to enter the industry.

Target Audience

The target audience for this programme is mainly aimed at women returners this is due to the enormous skill shortages within the industry and the advantages of flexible working hours, the industry believes that women returners are an ideal sector to target.

Women returners have many skills that the industry seek – they are good organisers, motivators and reliable. Their only concern would be ensuring the welfare of their children is catered for and hence the opportunity that childcare facilities would be available with this programme.
