Springboard Scotland
Since our launch in July 1998 Springboard Scotland has established effective partnerships to promote the Springboard message throughout Scotland. Working closely with both the industry and education sectors we have forged strong links in order to promote the Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism industries as a great place to work!
We work directly with potential recruits, showcasing the vast range of career opportunities in Scottish Tourism and helping young people, unemployed clients, adult returners, career changers and disadvantaged people to improve their prospects in life by preparing them for work in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism. We offer up to date information and advice on college courses, career opportunities and routes into the industry. We also have a huge range of Scottish resources such as videos, CD-Roms, careers magazines, our Who Wants to be a Hotelier boardgame, case studies and student activities designed to support the Scottish curriculum, bring the industry to life and encourage people to follow a career in tourism.
Tourism in Scotland is worth an estimated £4 billion annually and it is vital that we attract and retain the best regarded tourism workforce in the world. The Springboard Scotland team work directly with the industry to improve perceptions of the industry as an employer, attract new talent into the industry and help address specific HR challenges – such as recruitment and retention.
We have a Scottish Advisory Board chaired by Graham Drew, Scottish Director for Aramark with James Thomson from The Witchery supporting as Deputy Chair. Peter Lederer from Gleneagles and Lord John Thurso are Scottish Trustees. We are extremely proud of our links with industry and work with most of the main players in Scottish tourism. As well as our strong links locally we have our national Springboard Business Partnership Scheme which has forged even stronger links with major hospitality and tourism businesses such as 3663, Accor, BCP Car Parks, Best Western, City Inn, Compass, Corus, Gala, Gleneagles, Greene King, Hilton, Intercontinental, Jarvis, Jury’s Doyle, LA Fitness, La Tasca, Malmaison & Hotel Du Vin, Sodexho, Thistle, The Witchery and Whitbread. We will shortly be launching our Scottish Business Partnership Scheme to enable Scottish companies to benefit more directly from the work of Springboard Scotland.
The work of Springboard Scotland is an integral part of the Scottish Executive’s Tourism Framework for Change; “Scottish Tourism – The Next Decade” and we place a strong emphasis on partnership working. Tourism is everyone’s businesses and we will only achieve Scotland’s ambitions for growth by working together! Springboard Scotland has established strong links with a wide range of key organisations including People 1st, VisitScotland, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands & Islands Enterprise, Scottish Tourism Forum, Pride and Passion, Careers Scotland, the Scottish BHA and JobCentre Plus.
